Music Hall is the home of legendary Jamboree USA, which
has been broadcasting live over WWVA Radio since 1933.
Fans from all over the eastern seaboard have tuned in
to the live weekly radio show to hear country music
artists perform on the Music Hall's world-famous stage.
The second oldest country music program (next to the
Grand Old Opry), the Wheeling Jamboree endures as one
of America's oldest live radio broadcasts. The theatre
is also home to the Wheeling Symphony Orchestra and
various other musical, dance and theatre groups.

The Kruger Street Toy & Train Museum in Wheeling,
West Virginia, was the winner of the 2000 Grand Victorian
Award for Victorian building restoration, presented
by the Victorian Wheeling Society!
Since 1999, the Toy & Train Museum has also been
the host site of the Annual Marx Toy & Train Collectors
National Convention, held in June each year.
Located in a restored Victorian-era schoolhouse, the
Kruger Street Toy & Train Museum features a guided
tour, interactive displays, an operating O gauge train
layout, a unique gift shop, and a restored railroad
caboose onsite. The building is fully handicapped accessible,
air conditioned, and has ample free parking onsite.

Old Main at Bethany College, a National Historic Landmark,
is the earliest example of collegiate Gothic in America.
Construction began in 1858 using local timber, stone,
slate, and bricks kilned on site. Five US Presidents
have spoken in Commencement Hall and Edward Troye's
oriental paintings hang in the Parlour. |

Walnut Grove Cemetery/ Betty Zane Monument is at the entrance.
During the battle in 1782, Betty carried gun powder in
her apron to ward off the British soldiers and the Indians.
Sedgwick House Museum which contains many items pertaining
to the surrounding area.

CLAIRSVILLE
From Interstate 70, just beyond the Route 331/Exit 213
look north and see the covered bridge owned by Ohio
University Eastern. Nearby is the Great Western Schoolhouse
on National Road, west of town. This “little red
schoolhouse” was constructed in 1870 with bricks
made of clay from the banks of a nearby farm pond. The
one-room school was used continuously until 1936. It
still sits with the McGuffey Readers, inkwells and a
potbelly stove ready to greet students. An informative
talk is given by a “school marm” with advance
reservations.
BETHESDA
Epworth Park was established over 120 years ago by inspired
Methodists who established a religious campground here.
William Jennings Bryan “the silver-tongued orator”
and three-time presidential candidate among others was
a featured speaker at chautauquas at Epworth between
1890 and 1936. Today there still stands a beautiful
oak grove surrounding a quiet lake. There are 58 cottages
in the park, originally there were about 90. A walking
tour is possible. (Cottages are not winterized.)
FLUSHING
Underground Railroad Museum Collection of publications,
books, memorabilia and other articles. The exhibits
portray what is known about slavery and the underground
railroad in Ohio. Also, presents an understanding of
the culture in the 1800’s.
BARNESVILLE
Stillwater Meeting House built about 1804 after the
Quaker migration which swept up from the Southern states
as Quakers sought to raise their children in new lands
free from the evils of slavery. Meetings for worship
have been regularly held in this spot from 1804 to the
present time. While in Barnesville, you might take a
driving tour of the Victorian Village/Historic District.
Barnesville is home of the Belmont County Museum. The
26-room Victorian mansion is elegant with its carved
oak fretwork, butternut and hand-carved wood mantels,
and period furnishings from the 1800’s. The B&O
Depot is on the National Register of Historic Places,
housing the town’s visitor center. Dickinson Cattle
Co. with the largest herd of registered quality Texas
Longhorn Cattle east of San Francisco. Watt Center for
History and the Arts exhibits including coal history,
business, industry and agriculture.
BLAINE
Blaine Bridge this 1828 bridge has been designated Ohio’s
Bicentennial Bridge. It is the oldest bridge in Ohio,
the longest and last “S” 3-arch stone bridge
on the entire National Road.

National Imperial Glass Museum displays of Imperial
Glassware as well as other Bellaire glassware from the
Ohio Valley Glass and Artifacts Museum. |
